Not exactly sure what "Awesome light morning" could mean, but Jim V's
call:
Wow, quite unexpected according to the indicators. At the spillway
the wind was 13 to 19. Murry (7.0/113L) & I (8.5/135L) launched
around 7:20. I caught the wind line and planed all the way up to
Pipeline Gulch @ the beach. Then it started to lighten up, so I
downwinded it to the mouth of the canyon and it came up again for awhile
and sailed with Murry. Then it dropped off a litle, saw Jim T. out on
his 7.5/Go Board a little further down off the edge of the point sailing
across the bay. So I down winded to sail with him for awhile as it came
up again until it shut down around 9:00.
What happened with the kiters?! It filled into the bay a little later, guessing 8:00, could have been out for an hour at least. As Jim T. and I were leaving around 10:00 It was building up again and filled in all across the bay. As I crossed the spill way I checked the wind, 11 to 16.
Chris Lee had A different perspective with a 5.5 sail....
The clouds seemed to keep it from blowing steady. I slogged more than planed but did managed to go faster than yesterday when the wind filled in for that brief minute or so. I must have gotten a little more efficient with all that slogging around. :-)
Water is pretty cold especially when you are in the water a lot. However, it wasn't too terrible. All in all, I could have used a bit more wind.
