Very nice morning. I was first past the medium-starched diversion dam flags, that looks better. And first on the Turner Gulch ramp, at 8am. Maybe one of those kite boys was hiding around the next hill, but I saw no one: no cars, no people, no boats, no foils. It gave me a little pause, but it looked like it was sailable, and I had my stuff...
Reading the wind out of Turner is always iffy, and my notion that "gee, it's backed off a little" as I pulled on my wetsuit was probably in error. Chris Lee had pulled in next to me, and rigged enough faster that he was first on the water. I was second, and stepped on my board to be blasted out of the Gulch on one gust after another. I couldn't point out of the bowl at first, but was getting such great rides I didn't care. Maybe get blown down to Barclay?
Nope, I eventually did make my way up lake to join Jim and Chris and Betsy, and Jon, Steve and Eddy kiting. I had all I could handle with my 6.9 for most of a fine 6.0 morning, enjoyed carving and planing from start to finish in a bunch of jibes, and a little air time.
I even imagined I'd blast back into the boat ramp the same way I came out, but alas, no. Another hula party on the way in, and more arm workout than I have arms. When I left at 10:40, the kites were still up, but not so lively as earlier.

"Steve L had a mischievous look every time I got near him. He kept
turning to kite with me. Then it all made sense when just upwind of me
he launched a huge jump and soared 10ft above my 15 ft mast. I was
looking straight up watching him smile and fly. He landing fairly
poorly and tangled his kite lines. Eddy came to his rescue only to get
caught himself. His kite then hit the rocks and he climbed out at the
Overlook. Steve sailed in and got the car to go pick Eddy up. What a
friend!"
