Thanks to everyone for all your hard work at our work day at Lucky Peak yesterday! When you head up there to sail, if you walk upwind a bit at the launch, you'll find a beautifully smooth slope of pea gravel going down into the water for your launching ease. There's also been more gravel spread in our rigging area to protect our gear, and many larger rocks have been removed from our launching area. Extra thanks go to our hero, windsurfer Joe Doyle, who showed up with that awesome "Taskmaster," a little Bobcat-like gizmo with which he was able to ride along and scoop, move and smooth gravel. What a huge help! Big thanks also to Bill Binegar for the excellent coffee, and to everyone who showed up and manned the shovels, rakes and wheelbarrows.The new T-shaped dock at Barclay Bay is scheduled to be assembled next Wednesday on the Barclay boat ramp, then towed over and secured in place on Thursday. Lucky Peak's Joyce Dunning has been very helpful and communicative about this process. Also, Serpentina suffered a broken tail in the move, so is awaiting a new $600 tail before she'll be reinstalled, far at the other end of the beach away from us. That big pile of sand that you still see down on the beach will eventually be moved over to that far side and placed around the purple serpent.
And among the coolest news: Joyce said Lucky Peak will be filling to the high-water mark within the next few days. So if the wind is happening up there this weekend, we should have some great launching conditions.
