Sailing Report

Steve Linane writes:
Tom C. and I sailed R.C.R. (that's "Richard Caldwell Reservoir," named for the guy who "discovered" it this spring) today; it's a lot bigger then the picture looks and it's shallow 200 ft out. The water was flat and warm but the air temp was only 47° so I was thankful I didn't fall in. Tom sailed his 4.7 and I was on my 5.5 a 5.0 would of been better. Got in a good 1 1/2 hr. My guess is, it was built at the same time as Indian Cr. and Mt home R, probably a WPA project. Good news, no tulies. In my opinion it probably isn't any different wind wise then Mt. Home R. being it's only, say 6 to 8 miles away. The other Reservoir south of R.C.R. is smaller then Indian Cr. with a power line running over the top of it. All in all, R.C.R. is a good place to sail or kite.

(Didn't have the NOAA observations fetcher turned on yet)
